Open Burning, Fire Prevention, and Inspection

Fire Prevention Mission Statement:  The Chippewa Fire District is committed to Public Safety achieved through developing, promoting and maintaining a comprehensive network of fire suppression, fire prevention, fire investigation, emergency medical services, and rescue services for the Village of Lake Hallie, and the Townships of Hallie, Howard, and Lafayette. Through technology, education, training, and communications, we shall provide quality services to those we serve.

The Chippewa Fire District does follow the recommendations of the WI DNR for Protected Areas for all daily burning restriction and what is allowed to be burned. For Agricultual Zoned Property see the Chippewa Fire District Burning Regulation that has been approved by your municipality.

There is no burning on Sundays or Holidays

No burning is allowed on Commercial Zoned Properties unless a variance has been issued by your municipality.

If you would like to burn outside of recommendations for that day, you will need to contact the Fire District for a special permit which will require a site inspection prior to burning. Site Inspection will check the area for safety, proper clearances, materials to be burned, and weather conditions. For Residual Zone Properties, there is a fee for this inspection

For question on Fire Prevention, Fire Inspections, Permits, Site Inspections, and general burning within the Chippewa Fire District, please contact Fire Inspector Rebecca Shervey at 715-723-5488
