Open Burning, Fire Prevention, and Inspection

Fire Prevention Mission Statement:  The Chippewa Fire District is committed to Public Safety achieved through developing, promoting and maintaining a comprehensive network of fire suppression, fire prevention, fire investigation, emergency medical services, and rescue services for the Village of Lake Hallie, and the Townships of Hallie, Howard, and Lafayette. Through technology, education, training, and communications, we shall provide quality services to those we serve.

Updated Burning Regulations:  Effective 5/2/2022, The Chippewa Fire District will be following the recommendations of the WI DNR for all daily burning restriction and what is allowed to be burned.  If authorized on the day you call, please note that the following restrictions apply – fire to be no larger than 6X6X6, be extinguished by midnight, and no burning on Sunday.

If you would like to burn outside of recommendations for that day, you will need to contact the Fire District for a special permit which will require a site inspection prior to burning and you will receive an invoice for the inspection. Site Inspection will check the area for safety, proper clearances, materials to be burned, and weather conditions.

For question on Fire Prevention, Fire Inspections, Permits, Site Inspections, and general burning within the Chippewa Fire District, please contact Fire Inspector Rebecca Shervey at 715-723-5488
